Lantana CALIPPO make an excellent pot plant due to their elegant and strong habit and stunning, richly coloured flowers. They require a minimum of care and are available in a wide range of colours. ‘Calippo GOLD’ has striking lemon yellow flowers and a neat, compact habit.

About Lantana:
Lantana is a very popular perennial in southern Europe, where it grows as a shrub or even as a hedgerow. However, its spectacular and decorative flowers in vivid colours makes it very interesting as a container plant in northern Europe as well, especially varieties with a moderate and healthy growth perform well. They require some warmth, but after a sheltered start they will do splendidly throughout the summer.
The flowers are small, often multi-coloured, and clustered at the tip of the stems. They typically change colour as they mature so a mix of different shades or colours, e.g. pink, rose and yellow, can be seen simultaneously in the same cluster. During the summer and autumn some of the flowers may develop small black berries. Normally the growth continues freely, but in case the flowers develop too many seeds, we recommend you remove these to boost continuous growth and flowering. The characteristic scent of the Lantana-plants derives from the leaves.
CALIPPO is a new group of Lantana from the Italian breeder Andreas Psenner. They are distinguished by a low and compact growth habit and by their broad, dark green, almost leather-like leaves which are highly resistant to sucking insects, e.g. white flies, which can be a major problem in many Lantana-varieties. Calippo come in several, striking colours. And they develop significantly less berries than other Lantanas.
Lantana Calippo are ideal for pots and containers, being as well elegant as robust, and only require a minimum of care. However, full sun with free-draining soil or compost is a must.
